Real Madrid lead the list of the most followed clubs on social media

Real are one of the biggest clubs in world football and it seems like they have more supporters on social media than rivals Barcelona.

Real Madrid are once again the biggest and best team in the world, at least that's the case when it comes to the number of social media followers they have.

Considering their near total dominance of the Champions League in recent years it's somewhat weird to not be referring to Real as the European champions.

In fact their season went so bad they only won the Copa del Rey, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. Okay so they didn't go badly at all really.

Still elimination to Manchester City in the semi-finals in Europe meant that it was Pep Guardiola's side who won Los Blancos' most coveted trophy this year.

The Spanish giants seem to have moved on from their heartbreak pretty quickly and have already announced Jude Bellingham has their first summer signing.

He has moved from Borussia Dortmund to become the most expensive British player of all time at just 19-years-old, which is unbelievably impressive.

Bellingham was already a pretty big name in the world of football but his stardom will likely sky rocket moving to the Bernabeu as the latest 'Galactico.'

One thing that will certainly bolster his popularity is having 362 million new followers on social media interested in him, that's according to data from CIES Observatory on the most followed teams in the world.

Real lead El Clasico rivals Barcelona, who have 342 million followers across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter, with Manchester United in third and PSG fourth.

PSG might have been closer to United in second place if they hadn't recently seen Lionel Messi leave the club after two years in the French capital.

His departure saw around 600,000 people unfollow them on Instagram alone in the first 24 hours after his final appearance for the club.

Similarly it's probably no surprise thar Saudi Pro League runners-up Al Nassr find themselves in the top 20 list considering the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo earlier this year.

The list in a year's time could even include yet more Saudi clubs considering the amount of talent flocking to the league or linked to moves in recent weeks.

Inter Miami could also see a huge uplift in their numbers since signing Messi, considering he has the most popular Instagram post of all time!
