Raphael Varane played stunning 'line-breaking pass' for France's goal against Morocco, fans can't get enough

Raphael Varane got fans online excited.

Fans can't get enough of Raphael Varane's 'line-breaking pass' in the build-up to France's opening goal against Morocco.

France took an early lead against Morocco in their World Cup semi-final showdown on Wednesday as Theo Hernandez opened the scoring in just the fifth minute.

He struck home from close range after Kylian Mbappe's deflected shot looped up in the air.

But credit has to go to Varane, who played a delightful ball to Antoine Griezmann. He slid in a stunning 'line-breaking pass' that created France's opportunity.

The 29-year-old perfectly executed the ball to his international teammate and showed off his vision from the back.

The Manchester United star's pass to Griezmann sent social media wild.

One Twitter user wrote: "Varane line breaking pass... I wasn't familiar with your game."

A second tweeted: "That Varane pass though. But he doesn’t look aesthetically pleasing while doing it."

A third added: "Varane with a world class pass."

A fourth commented: "Varane beating the can’t pass between the lines allegations."

Another said: "Raphael Varane take a bow. Bruno-esque pass right there."

Varane, who has played 11 games in all competitions for Man United this season, has been a rock in defence for France in this tournament.

His club colleague Harry Maguire had also starred at the World Cup before England's elimination.

And Erik ten Hag has warned Varane that Maguire could take his spot at Man United following his performances on the international stage.

"When I choose Rapha it is nothing against Harry. Sometimes it is because one player is a lot better than the other," he said. "But I think I have two or three good players there in the right centre-back position.

"After Brentford, I chose. I had a feeling I had to change there - I had to change the mentality. He was unlucky that moment was bad for him. But it doesn’t say anything about his quality that he can’t do it or my opinion about his quality. I’m sure he has the potential to play in our style and fit into our system.

"The only thing Harry has to do is train well, perform well, he has games he has rhythm and his chance will come. He will have a chance to show it and then he’s in and he will play."

Varane will be looking to bag his second World Cup following France's triumph at the 2018 World Cup.
