In one of the more unexpected moves of the January transfer window, it appears Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on a surprise deal to sign one of Liverpool's most experienced players.
Last month, Spurs manager Thomas Frank promised it would "definitely" be a busy window for the Lilywhites.
"We will definitely be in the market, no doubt about that," said Frank, who has struggled during his first campaign in North London. "We want them as early as possible, like every other time."
So far, the club have signed England international Conor Gallagher in a deal worth £35 million, as well as 19-year-old left-back Souza from Brazilian side Santos for around £19 million.

They have also been linked with a host of other names, including highly-rated Las Palmas left-back Mika Marmol, but it appears they are now determined to sign Liverpool defender Andy Robertson.
Negotiations between all parties are 'advancing', according to a report from The Athletic.
It is said the club initially identified Robertson as a summer transfer target but their efforts have been brought forward in a bid to strengthen Frank’s squad immediately.
In addition to this, a verbal agreement is apparently done between Liverpool and Spurs, according to Florian Plettenberg, and the clubs are currently in negotiations over a January move.
The 31-year-old defender, who is currently in the final year of his contract at Anfield, was a regular starter under Arne Slot as they lifted the Premier League title in May.
However, he has started just four games in the Premier League this season following the arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.

Back in June, Robertson was attracting interest from Atletico Madrid, and the La Liga club considered him to be a priority signing, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Robertson, meanwhile, was said to be 'keen' on joining Atletico, and initial talks took place.
Before the season kicked off, the Scotland international was honest about his chances of first-team football ahead of potential new arrivals at Liverpool.
"I think at any big club I think you always have to keep moving, the club always moves forwards. Just now we’re at the top. We obviously won the league and it’s important that the club try to keep improving and try to keep finding ways to do that," he said.
"The players that we’re linked with are all younger players and they’re all exciting players as well. So when you play for a big club like Liverpool, you expect challenges, you expect to have competition. I’ve always faced that and so has everyone in their own positions.
"Wherever we fit into that, if you’re happy with you’re role, you stay and you do it, and if you’re not, then I’m sure there will be some people out the door as well."
"But that’s the nature of football, it’s one of the biggest clubs in the world and we have to keep moving," he added.
