Spurs star approached over shock exit from club ahead of Iliman Ndiaye move

Tottenham Hotspur's pursuit of in-demand Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye could have a knock-on effect for one of Roberto De Zerbi's existing players, according to reports.

Spurs are understood to be progressing with their efforts to sign the highly rated Senegal star, with Manchester City and North London rivals Arsenal also harbouring an interest.

Reports indicate that a deal between Spurs and Everton is close, while an agreement is also in place for former Toffees striker Richarlison to return to Merseyside four years after he left Goodison Park for Tottenham.

The transfers are reportedly unconnected and Ndiaye's possible arrival could also trigger a further departure from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where 21-year-old France striker is subject to interest from abroad just one season after making his Spurs loan from Bayern Munich permanent.

According to reports in Turkey, the former Bayern man is being targeted for another loan move, this time away from Spurs to Istanbul titans Galatasaray.

The Turkish champions have already completed the signing of Portugal winger Rafael Leao from AC Milan and are eager to continue to add to their firepower as they look to mount a title defence in the new season.

"The Yellow-Reds have approached Tottenham regarding young star Mathys Tel. A loan offer has been made for the versatile attacking player, and all eyes are now on Tottenham's decision," reports Fanatik.

"It has been learned that Galatasaray has made a loan offer to Tottenham for the 21-year-old footballer.

"The Yellow-Reds plan to finalise the transfer by negotiating with Mathys Tel's representatives after receiving a response from the English club.

"Mathys Tel, who transferred from Bayern Munich to Tottenham, is among the players who stand out with his speed, physical strength, and versatile playing style.

"Galatasaray management aims to increase the options in their attacking rotation if the player joins the team."

Tel is from the north of Paris and played junior football for a number of clubs in the French capital, including Paris FC, before breaking through into first-team football while on the books at Rennes.

He joined Spurs on loan early in 2025 after making 83 senior appearances for Bayern, scoring 16 times.

The striker joined a club in disarray but made five appearances in their successful Europa League campaign in 2024-25 before signing a permanent deal.

In 2025-26, Tel scored four goals for Spurs. All of them came in the Premier League, with Spurs again finishing too close to the relegation zone for comfort.

He has started all three of their matches this season, achieving a single shot on target in either of Spurs' goalless Premier League defeats against Brentford and Newcastle United, and is sure to be on the outside looking in if De Zerbi and Spurs are able to strengthen their attacking hand.

Spurs have spent freely this summer and it's the competition of former Man City left winger Savio and City loanee striker Omar Marmoush that make it unlikely that Tel will be a part of De Zerbi's plans beyond transfer deadline day on Tuesday.
