Coventry agree record-breaking move for one of football's most exciting talents as Frank Lampard's newest signing

Coventry are continuing strengthening their squad for the new Premier League season with the record-breaking capture of one of football's most exciting talents.

The Sky Blues are back in the top flight for the first time since 2001 after taking the Championship by storm and broke their transfer record with the £22.5 million signing of goalkeeper Carl Rushworth after he excelled on loan last season.

But the Midlands outfit aren't stopping there, with stunning reports claiming they have agreed to sign Ghana midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi - who will become their most expensive player.

Yirenkyi, who featured for the Black Stars, plies his trade in Denmark with FC Nordsjælland and Farzam Abolhosseini of Tipsbladet is reporting that he is heading to Coventry for a fee of €27 million (£23.1 million).

Coventry are also due to pay €3 million in add-ons, with a medical pencilled in. The deal will be a record transfer for the Danish Superliga and the highest fee a club has received in the division.

Yirenkyi is a product of the Right to Dream academy and the 20-year-old has earned raved reviews for his displays.

Compared to compatriot Michael Essien for his physical and technical attributes, Yirenkyi scored the winner for Ghana in their last-gasp group stage win against Panama.

Nordsjælland have played a huge part in the development of a a number of top talents, including Manchester United's Patrick Dorgu and Spurs star Mohammed Kudus.

Yirenkyi is believed to have chosen Coventry because of the guarantee of first-team football and the fact he has been told he will have an important role int he team.

He is set to sign a long-term contract after Nordsjælland accepted the record bid.
