Newcastle have reportedly taken a major decision over the future of Alexander Isak amid Liverpool interest in the striker.
The Magpies take on Liverpool at St James' Park on Monday evening.
Eddie Howe's side will be without Isak for the second consecutive Premier League fixture, with the striker unavailable and currently training away from the first team squad.
Isak publicly demanded to leave Newcastle last week and accused the club of 'breaking promises'.

Now, a week on from the end of the transfer window, the Magpies have reportedly made a key decision.

According to the Daily Mail's Craig Hope, Magpies co-owner Jamie Reuben and Jacobo Solis personally visited Isak's house for showdown talks over his future.
It is claimed that the Magpies will commit to negotiations over a new contract for the striker if he commits to playing for the club this season.

Isak's current contract, which expires in 2028, has been a key sticking point surrounding the Liverpool saga - with the issue dating back to the beginning of last season.
It was reported last summer that the Swede was set to enter talks over a new deal at St James' Park, but the season came and went without fresh terms being offered.
Hope claims that the controversial then-sporting director Paul Mitchell decided against offering Isak a new deal.
What did Isak say about his future?
Although Newcastle will still hope to change Isak's mind over his future, he was unequivocal in his desire to leave the club in his public statement last week.

Posting to his Instagram story, Isak wrote: "I've kept quiet for a long time while others have spoken. That silence has allowed people to push their own version of events, even though they know it doesn't reflect what was really said and agreed behind closed doors.
"The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time. To now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading.
"When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can't continue. That's where things are for me right now - and why change is in the best interest of everyone, not just myself."
