Newcastle United star Joelinton appears to have hit out at teammate Alexander Isak amid his transfer links with Liverpool.

Although the ongoing transfer window has seen some massive names come to the Premier League, undoubtedly the saga surrounding Isak has been the story of the summer.

The Sweden international has been heavily linked with Premier League champions Liverpool in recent weeks, with both him and the club seeing it as a dream transfer.

With recent reports suggesting that a deal was becoming increasingly unlikely, Isak decided to take matters into his own hands and release a damning statement on social media hitting out at Newcastle.

Although the club later responded to Isak's claims, Newcastle's players have largely stayed quiet on the situation, but that hasn't stopped Joelinton from making his views on the matter known online.

Shortly after Isak released his statement on Instagram, Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes appeared to react to the controversial story post by sharing an image of himself posted by the Premier League's Latin America account.

And now, fellow Brazilian international Joelinton has responded to Isak's recent behaviour by liking a fan post criticising the Newcastle striker.

Posting on Instagram, fan account worflags shared a photo of Newcastle supports, writing: "Idolised and adored. No promises broken by the fans that make this club.

"We deserve better than the destructive path you’ve chosen.

"Newcastle United will never be defeated."

Almost immediately, fans in the comments noticed that Joelinton had liked the post, suggesting that he too is not happy with how Isak has handled the transfer rumours.

Reacting to the post, one fan wrote: "Big Joe gets it."

While another commented a rat emoji, writing: "Big Joe knows the score."

Following Isak's statement and the response from Newcastle and the star players, tensions couldn't be any higher going into Liverpool's trip to St James' Park on Monday night.

Ahead of the game, Newcastle's social media team appeared to add fuel to the fire as their shared a pre-match graphic of Joelinton, riling up fans of both clubs in the replies.

As it stands, it remains unclear if Isak will join Liverpool, with reports suggesting that the only way Newcastle will entertain a move will be if they can sign two strikers before the window closes on September 1, and Liverpool are prepared to offer a huge fee.
