Newcastle told 'real reason' Alexander Isak is so furious with club amid Liverpool rumours

Isak says his relationship with Newcastle "can't continue" as rumours continue to swirl.

A new report has provided an insight into why Alexander Isak is 'so angry' about his current situation at Newcastle as the Swede continues to be linked with a move to Liverpool.

It would take a British record fee to be agreed upon for the wantaway Isak to leave this summer, according to widespread reports, with Newcastle hoping for at least £150 million for their prized asset.

Earlier this month, the Magpies rejected a formal £110 million offer from Liverpool for the striker – a decision that is said to have irked Isak.

In fact, on Tuesday night, the 25-year-old released a public statement claiming Newcastle had broken promises to him amid links of a British-record transfer to Anfield.

"Promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time," he said. "To now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading. When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can't continue."

Now, a report from the Mail has published a story that is circulating in so-called 'well placed circles' regarding Isak's feelings towards being left in limbo at Newcastle.

"Is this the REAL reason Alexander Isak is so angry about being left in limbo at Newcastle?" wrote the publication, before suggesting Isak was under the impression that a bid of £100 million or more would see his release from Newcastle this summer.

"If that is the case, suddenly the picture becomes clearer," the report adds.

Newcastle refute Isak's claims about “promises” being made

In response to Isak's statement this week, Newcastle stated they were "disappointed" with the player.

The club added: "We are clear in response that Alex remains under contract and that no commitment has ever been made by a club official that Alex can leave Newcastle United this summer.

"We want to keep our best players, but we also understand players have their own wishes and we listen to their views.

"As explained to Alex and his representatives, we must always take into consideration the best interests of Newcastle United, the team and our supporters in all decisions and we have been clear that the conditions of a sale this summer have not transpired.

"We do not foresee those conditions being met.

"This is a proud football club with proud traditions and we strive to retain our family feel. Alex remains part of our family and will be welcomed back when he is ready to rejoin his teammates."
