Newcastle United's Anthony Gordon (36.61 km/h) and Liverpool's Darwin Nunez (36.53 km/h) make up the top five.

Walker beating a bunch of young forwards to register the highest top speed in England's top flight sent social media wild.

One Twitter user wrote: "Still fast at 33. Competing with these young lads."

A second tweeted: "At 33... that's crazy man."

A third added: "That Mudryk clocked that speed after about 12 seconds on his debut at Anfield and then took the rest of the season off."

A fourth said: "Walker is at least 10 years older than anyone else on this list."

Another referenced the 2022 World Cup, saying: "Mbappe outpaced a guy 37.31 km/h guy. Wow."

Walker enjoyed another brilliant campaign, but he was forced to overcome criticism from Pep Guardiola, who questioned whether he could fit into his team.

The England international was subsequently dropped from the team though he regained his spot following an injury to Nathan Ake.

On the criticism he faced from Guardiola, he said: "Did it hurt? Of course it did. I can't lie and say it didn't hurt. You start to doubt yourself.

"Sometimes, you don't always agree with certain opinions in football but what he has done for me and for Man City in the last six years has been nothing short of tremendous.

"He is my boss and I am one of the captains. I needed to make sure my disappointment isn't shown on the team."
