A supercomputer has predicted where Aston Villa will finish in the Premier League following Steven Gerrard's appointment as manager, and it makes for somewhat underwhelming reading for Villans fans.

According to bettingexpert's supercomputer, Villa are set to end the season in 15th place and are listed at 5/1 to get relegated.

Villa are currently 16th in the table after a lacklustre start to the campaign, which ultimately cost the departing Dean Smith his job.

Since a 1-0 win over Manchester United on 25th September, the West Midlands side have lost their last five Premier League games and were most recently beaten 1-0 by Southampton last Friday.

If this prediction comes true, then the arrival of the Liverpool legend will do little to improve the team's form this season.

Elsewhere, it does not bode well for Man United, who are set to finish outside the top four the first time in three seasons with a fifth-place finish. They are listed at 1/7 to go against the prediction and secure a Champions League berth.

PA: West Ham United are forecast to finish in the top four.

But it is a different story for West Ham United, who are forecast to pip Man United to fourth place and qualify for the Champions League at the Red Devils' expense. The Hammers' are also priced at 50/1 to claim the Premier League title.

Manchester City are predicted to win their sixth Premier League title, while Chelsea and Liverpool are placed in second and third respectively.

But if the table makes for underwhelming reading for Villa fans, it is an even sorrier state of affairs for Newcastle United, Watford and Norwich City, who will take the bottom three places in the division.

The Canaries are priced at 1/6 to make another immediate return to the Championship following Daniel Farke's sacking, while the appointments of Claudio Ranieri and Eddie Howe will not do anything to change the fortunes of either the Hornets or the Magpies.
