In a huge feel-good story, 19-year-old Nico Williams made his Athletic Club debut alongside his older brother Inaki tonight.

The youngster was handed his debut in the 2-2 draw with Valladolid, wearing the same No.30 shirt that his sibling did many years ago when he made his first-team bow for the Basque outfit at the age of 20.

Younger brother Nico was introduced first in the La Liga fixture and then it was two Williams brothers on the same pitch, playing for the same team, after the 26-year-old entered the fray in the 71st minute.

It marks a wonderful moment for the Williams family, made even prouder given the lengths the pair's parents went to so their children could have a better life.

Father Felix and move Maria genuinely walked barefoot across the Sahara desert - with the dad losing sensitivity in his feet as a result of the gruelling journey.

He had told his sons that they arrived in Bilbao via plane but eventually the inspiring truth was revealed.

Williams told El Hormiguero: "My parents are both from Ghana. They are superheroes for me and my brother. They left their whole lives behind. I always asked him and asked my mother how he got to Spain. Since childhood he told me that by plane.

"My father told me the story of a major. My hair stood on end. Knowing that your parents have walked the Sahara desert, my barefoot father ... saw people die on the road and put them in a prison as war refugees.

"Thanks to the fact that they found good people who helped them, that opened the possibility of reaching Bilbao and that is why I am an Athletic player. There are times that you have to believe in destiny."
