Jose Mourinho Wants Manchester United To Break The World Record Transfer Fee Again

Jose Mourinho Wants Manchester United To Break The World Record Transfer Fee Again

Two years on the trot?

Jose Mourinho splashed out a world-record fee to land top target Paul Pogba, and bring the Frenchman back to Old Trafford last summer.

And with Champions League football back on the agenda next season after winning the Europa League, Mourinho wants further reinforcements and is more than happy to splash the cash again to get who he wants.

Who does he want, then? The Mirror reports that Mourinho rates Spurs striker Harry Kane so highly that he is urging United officials to make a world-record fee, that would surpass the £89 million United paid to land Pogba last season, to acquire the 24-year old.

It's common knowledge that signing a new striker to lead the line next season is an absolutely priority for United, after releasing Zlatan Ibrahimovic due to the Swede's lengthy lay-off.

Antoine Griezmann was a top target, but committed his future to Atletico by signing a new contract following the club's transfer ban.

And while news that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Real Madrid has got United's undivided attention, the talk from John Richardson from The Mirror is that Mourinho's preference is to test Tottenham's resolve by making a mega offer for Premier League top scorer Kane, who hit 29 goals last term.

The England man signed a new five-and-a-half year contract to become the club's best-paid player in December and is more than happy in North London.

The report notes that Tottenham are not interested in any approaches for their main man, and though Daniel Levy has a reputation for playing hard-ball, a crazy £100 million bid may at least prompt Levy and Spurs to consider.

United remain keen on Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, though, and the consensus is that Mourinho's dream scenario would be to pair both Kane and the Spaniard together up top next season.

The Red Devils have signed Benfica defender Victor Lindelof so far, but are keen on Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic, who excelled under Mourinho at Chelsea.
