Jamie Carragher hits back at rumours that he and Gary Neville have been ‘banned by Nottingham Forest’

Jamie Carragher has broken his silence.

Jamie Carragher has responded after rumours that he and Gary Neville have been banned by Premier League side Nottingham Forest.

Last week, Forest made headlines after releasing a strong statement on the back of their 2-0 defeat by Everton.

It read: “Three extremely poor decisions - three penalties not given - which we simply cannot accept. We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game but they didn’t change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times. NFFC will now consider its options.”

Both Carragher and Neville then went in on Forest as they slammed the matter in which they have dealt with decisions going against them.

With Neville confirming he will not be at Forest’s match against Manchester City on Sunday, it led to rumours that the club have banned both him and Carragher.

Now, the former Liverpool man has hit back at those rumours.

On social media, one fan wrote: “Only just heard Nottingham Forest have banned @GNev2 and @Carra23 from the City Ground. Thats brilliant, their comments were a disgrace, they're just puppets for SkySport!”

After a fan replied saying: “If this is true, it's embarrassing. I don't like either of them or their opinions, but they're entitled to them. They've been doing this kind of s**t in Scotland with Celtic/Rangers banning pundits from the other side, and it never ends well. Sky should refuse to televise it,” Carragher wrote: “No it’s not true. But what a bizarre reply from yourself considering your previous tweet about the two of us.”

Speaking about Forest on the latest episode of Stick To Football, brought to you by Sky Bet, Neville said: “You've got Clattenburg almost like a Navy Seal in the director's box crawling along to the CEO (whispering).

“The reason I asked him to resign was because if he saw that Luton tweet that went out, he has to distance himself from it or he's part of it. If he's part of that, I'm like ‘wow’.”

He added: “You never give football players or employees a get-out excuse ever. He's given them an excuse to not win. Now that might sound crazy, but when you put that negativity in, Neco Williams, he's probably a really good player, he's coming out on Sunday and he's talking about referees.”
