Lionel Messi Has Won 225 Man Of The Match Awards Since The 2010/11 Season

Lionel Messi has won an incredible 225 'Man of the Match' awards since the 2010/11 season. That's 100 more than second place Cristiano Ronaldo.

Messi has produced magical performances for Barcelona over the years and he's been recognised for his stunning showings by receiving an incredible 225 MOTM awards.

His nearest rival Ronaldo has recorded 125 MOTM awards from his time at Real Madrid and Juventus.

They're the only two players to have compiled more than a hundred MOTM awards since the 2010/11 campaign.

Then it's ex-Chelsea ace Eden Hazard. He secured 93 MOTM gongs during his glittering career in the Premier League.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Neymar and Luis Suarez round off the top five.

Gareth Bale, Antoine Griezmann, Arturo Vidal and Marco Reus also feature in the top ten.

Here's the top ten in full:

1. Lionel Messi - 225

2. Cristiano Ronaldo - 125

3. Eden Hazard - 93

4. Zlatan Ibrahimovic - 89

5. Neymar - 65

5. Luis Suarez - 65

7. Gareth Bale - 62

8. Antoine Griezmann - 58

9. Arturo Vidal - 53

10. Marco Reus - 50

Last season, Messi registered an impressive 17 MOTM awards according to WhoScored's stats as Barcelona won the La Liga title.

No player registered more MOTM awards than him as he enjoyed yet another ridiculous campaign.

Despite his heroics, Messi isn't the favourite to win the Ballon d'Or. Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk is currently in pole position to win the coveted individual prize according to bookies.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is narrowly behind the Dutch defender with odds of 6/5.
