Lionel Messi stole the headlines on his Inter Miami debut but don't sleep on Sergio Busquets' outrageous performance in his first bow on Friday night.

Messi came off the bench at a sold-out DRV PNK Stadium to score a 94th minute free-kick winner against Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup.

The stunning strike left co-owner David Beckham in tears, while celebrities in attendance like LeBron James, Serena Williams and Kim Kardashian couldn't help but marvel at the brilliance of the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner.

Messi inevitably and deservedly got the plaudits but Busquets, a fellow new signing and long-time colleague of the Argentine's, was sensational.

The Spaniard has also signed with the Herons and entered the fray alongside Messi in the 54th minute. The 35-year-old has just left Barcelona after captaining them to the La Liga title and he rolled back the years with a typically classy midfield display.

Busquets didn't even break a sweat but completely controlled the midfield and kept things ticking over. There was no point in pressing him whatsoever such was his expert close control and ability to change direction.

Don't let Messi's debut distract you from the fact that Sergio Busquets was sensational in his debut as well 👏 (via @MLS) pic.twitter.com/032vho4dD8

He linked up with Messi much like the pair did under Pep Guardiola at Barca, finding him with deft passes in between the lines to bring him into play.

Inter fans are getting truly spoilt when you consider they will be able to see Messi and Busquets do their thing on a regular basis and the latter received plenty of praise on social media.

One wrote: "Busquets makes it look so easy."

A second said: "So technical. Guy was pretty much walking and still controlling that midfield. Pure class!!

A third added: "Nobody can find Messi like Busquets."

A fourth weighed in: "He made the right choice going there near the end of his career. He could play in slippers in this league, so so good."

A fifth commented: "The master of the basics. Just making the difficult look easy."

A sixth opined: "The way Busquets plays effortlessly need to be studied."

Inter will add another Blaugrana legend into the mix in Jordi Alba, while there has been talk of interest of them drafting in Andres Iniesta to complete the reunion.

The Florida outfit return to action against Atlanta United on Wednesday, with Messi and Busquets in line to make their first starts.
