Manchester United fans have been left stunned by the club's reported asking price for Brazilian midfielder Fred.

The 30-year-old lost his starting place last season under Erik ten Hag and has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer.

Fulham are thought to be interested in the Brazil international, who was spotted chatting to Cottagers boss Marco Silva after their final Premier League game of the season last month. Check out the video below.

Despite falling down the pecking order under Ten Hag, Fred still made 56 appearances in all competitions last season – helping the club finish third in the Premier League and also win the Carabao Cup – their first piece of major silverware in six years.

He still has one year left on his deal and United may look to sell him this summer in order to raise transfer funds, with the club's reported budget just £100m before player sales.

According to The Telegraph, United are now seeking just £20m for Fred – despite signing him for £52m in 2018.

But the report claims Fulham are not prepared to meet United's asking price and will look to agree a lower fee.

It follows reports United have agreed to sell academy star Zidane Iqbal to Dutch side FC Utrecht for just £850,000.

United supporters have been left stunned by the club's asking price for Fred.

One angry fan tweeted: "£20m?! And they won't pay it?! Eh?! I'm quite happy for Fred to go but I thought he'd be going for £30m absolute minimum."

A second commented: "50m or nothing."

A third wrote: "This valuation seems disrespectful to a player like Fred, he’s a current Brazil international and he’s actually a decent player when used correctly.

"United are the worst when it comes to selling. Regardless of him being in the last year of his contract, should be 35m at least."

Meanwhile, a fourth wrote: "£850k for Zidane Iqbal. £20m for Fred. Less than £25m for [Dean] Henderson. £2m for [Eric] Bailly. £10m for [Anthony] Elanga. £1.5m for [Tahith] Chong. £15m for [James] Garner.

"This isn’t acceptable, [Sporting director, John] Murtough and [chief executive, Richard] Arnold should be sacked IMMEDIATELY after the takeover is finalised.."

Speaking after the FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City earlier this month, Fred admitted he is unsure where his future lies.

He said: "I still don’t know, I have to talk with my family, I still have one year left in my contract here.

"Now it’s holidays' time and a good opportunity to rest. I’ll talk to my staff, to the club and see what is everyone’s decision.

"I do have to talk with [Erik] Ten Hag as well, he’s the manager and the conversation has to involve everyone. We have to see how next season will plan out. I want to be important, I want to help the team, so we’ll see.

"But I've always been and still am very happy at Manchester United. Of course, I always want to be playing, to be helping my team and gladly I started and I think we played well."
