Manchester United are prepared to let two current first team players leave the club in the summer, according to a new report.

The Red Devils have allowed a number of players to depart since Erik ten Hag officially took charge last summer, with Andreas Pereira, Tahith Chong and James Garner among those to move on permanent deals.

The Dutchman has also sanctioned loan deals for youngsters Alvaro Fernandez, Amad Diallo and Ethan Laird, with Dean Henderson, Alex Telles and Eric Bailly also departing on a temporary basis.

United have signed a number of new players to add to the squad, including Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez.

That has meant less playing time for former first team starters, such as Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Maguire has made just eight Premier League appearances this term, despite a strong World Cup with England, while Wan-Bissaka has only returned to the side in the last month after an injury absence and falling below Diogo Dalot in the right-back pecking order.

Scott McTominay has also played less due to new arrivals, although did replace the suspended Casemiro for the 3-2 defeat to Arsenal, and the same can be said for Fred and Victor Lindelof.

Now, according to a new report, United will allow two of their players to leave this summer.

Man Utd to allow players to leave

According to talkSPORT's Alex Crook via his Transfer Notebook, United are willing to allow Maguire and McTominay to exit Old Trafford this summer.

He claims that Ten Hag still sees both as valuable squad players this season, despite their relative lack of game time when compared to previous seasons.

United also need to sell players before they can purchase them, in order to ensure compliance with Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules, but with little time remaining in the January window, it would be difficult to source a replacement before the end of the month.

Ten Hag has said 'never say never' when asked about possible incomings, but it appears increasingly likely that the loan additions of Jack Butland and Wout Weghorst will be the club's only signings in January as they look to push on towards success in the second half of the season.
