Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is set to ruin Mikel Arteta's summer transfer plans as he pursues two Arsenal targets.

Despite there still being a huge amount to play for this season, many clubs are already plotting moves ahead of the summer transfer window.

United look set to return to the Champions League and will continue Ten Hag's revolution by making strong additions ahead of next season.

One area the club wants to improve is the midfield and they have been linked with a Premier League duo who have shone this season.

According to The Telegraph, Brighton midfielders Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister are amongst the players shortlisted by United as they look to get closer to challenging for a league title.

The pair have also been targeted by league leaders Arsenal and Ten Hag could ruin Arteta's transfer plans by beating the Gunners to it.

Caicedo wanted to move to North London in January but Brighton insisted he stayed until the summer at least.

Ten Hag wants a deep-lying playmaker

There are several areas that the Red Devils are keen to improve this summer, but a priority for Ten Hag is to sign a deep-lying playmaker in the middle of the park.

He has recently used Bruno Fernandes in this role whilst Casemiro has been suspended and Christian Eriksen has been injured but now wants to bring in a long-term solution.

United attempted to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong last summer who would have been a perfect partner for Casemiro, but he decided to stay put.

Scott McTominay and Fred have filled the midfield gap for the past few years at Old Trafford but it's become clear that if United want to win a title then they need better options.

This summer will be their biggest in a long time, get it right and they may finally find the formula to success.
