Man Utd ‘decide to put three players on transfer list’ as summer budget claim made

Man Utd will reportedly allow three players to leave the club this summer.

Manchester United are prepared to allow three players to leave the club this summer to make way for signings, according to a new report.

It is shaping up to be a big summer for Erik ten Hag, with the club having not spent any money on transfer fees for senior players in January.

Instead, they focused on loan deals, with Wout Weghorst, Jack Butland and Marcel Sabitzer all joining the club on a temporary basis.

That decision will likely free up funds for Ten Hag this summer as he goes about adding to his squad.

Recent reports claim that United are interested in signing Atalanta wonderkid Rasmus Hojlund, who has already earned comparisons to Manchester City star Erling Haaland.

But their number one target remains Tottenham's Harry Kane, with the England all-time leading scorer's contract expiring in the summer of 2024.

While United may be able to stump up the rumoured £100 million asking price to land the striker, that pursuit could be supported by player sales.

Man Utd 'transfer list three players'

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Ten Hag is willing to allow three United players to leave this summer, with the proceeds from those sales then boosting the club's summer transfer budget.

The report claims that Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Donny van de Beek will all be allowed to depart Old Trafford.

Both Lindelof and Maguire were mainstays of the side under previous managers, but have both found game time hard to come by this season when first-choice centre-back pairing Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez are available.

Van de Beek, meanwhile, is out injured for the season with a serious knee injury he suffered in January, but has failed to find consistent form at Old Trafford since arriving from Ajax in 2020.

Arranging a sale for the Dutchman could be relatively straightforward, with Football Insider claiming that Ajax are interested in bringing the midfielder back to the club this summer.
