After reaching an agreement with Atalanta over the £35 million transfer of Brazilian midfielder Ederson, Manchester United have reportedly put three first-team players up for sale.
Following a successful second half of the 2025/26 campaign under Michael Carrick, which saw United finish third and qualify for the Champions League, the club are already planning for next season.
After the 2024/25 campaign, several players departed either on permanent transfers or loan deals, with Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelöf leaving first.
Later in the summer, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford were among the notable departures.

Meanwhile, United’s recruits proved successful, with Matheus Cunha, Senne Lammens, Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo all making telling contributions during the 2025/26 campaign.
United are close to signing Brazilian midfielder Ederson on a four-year contract after reaching an agreement on a £35 million deal with Atalanta. He is expected to link up with his new team-mates when United return for pre-season training in early July.
The 26-year-old is seen as a direct replacement for Casemiro, who will leave United upon the expiry of his contract later this month.
Ederson’s arrival will likely spell the end of Manuel Ugarte’s disappointing time at United, with Sky Sports suggesting the Uruguayan, who joined from Paris Saint-Germain for a £50.5 million fee in 2024, is likely to depart after just two seasons in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old played just 24 times in all competitions last term, recording no goals or assists.
André Onana, who spent last season on loan at Turkish side Trabzonspor, is also expected to leave United after being replaced by Lammens as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. He has reportedly been informed he can leave, according to BBC Sport.
However, the Cameroon international’s reported £120,000-a-week salary, which is set to increase further as a result of United’s Champions League qualification, could prove a sticking point in negotiations with interested clubs.
United are also keen to sell forward Joshua Zirkzee, with the Netherlands international struggling to find form in the Premier League since his £36.5 million move from Bologna in 2024.
In terms of incomings, United are keen to sign two midfielders, a left winger and a left-back, as well as potentially bringing in both a striker and a centre-back.
Michael Carrick on Man Utd summer dealings
Speaking in May, Carrick described the upcoming transfer window as the “most important” of all time.
He said: “I think the beauty of the next transfer window for everybody, it's always the biggest thing in the world, and the most important transfer window of all time for every club, I think. That's just the nature of how it's been created, to be honest. And I think, again, as a football club, you want to keep moving forward. We certainly do, as a football club, want to keep moving forward.
“So, I think it's acknowledged we're at this stage and the dynamics and the balance of the direction we're at, where we've ended up getting to and finishing in the league. And there's obviously work to do. I know it's quite obvious, with certain players leaving, that there's a bit of work to do.
“It's not any more important, this one, than the last one. It's what's ahead of us as a football club to try and make the most of.”
