Jurgen Klopp has requested Liverpool sign Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, according to a fresh report.

Liverpool are in atrocious form. They are currently languishing in ninth place, some 19 points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Furthermore, Klopp described his side's most recent 3-0 defeat against Brighton as one of the worst of his coaching career, which is a notable feat given Borussia Dortmund were threatened with relegation in the German’s final season there.

It was in midfield in particular that Brighton truly won the game, with both Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister running the show.

Caicedo, who was a £3million arrival from Ecuadorian outfit Independiente del Valle, has already been linked with moves worth well over 10 times more.

Indeed reports claim that Liverpool are one of many clubs interested in bringing in the 21-year-old.

Caicedo to Liverpool?

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, Liverpool are monitoring Caicedo “with attention” and keen to bring the Brighton star to Anfield.

While Klopp admitted he did not expect any new signings to join the club this month, having signed winger Cody Gakpo early in the window, Galetti claimed the Liverpool boss has asked for January midfield re-enforcements.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT Galetti said: “It’s hard to say with certainty right now. Klopp, for sure, has asked for a central midfielder. Moises Caicedo is one of the names Liverpool are monitoring with attention, but Brighton, to date, have no plans to sell him.”

Indeed, when available Liverpool have relied on the dependable but ageing midfield trio of Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho this term.

With the Reds eager to rejuvenate the midfield Caicedo has been tipped as the perfect signing.

Football finance expert and Brighton fan, Kieran Maguire, told This Is Anfield: “Moises Caicedo would be perfect for Liverpool.

“He wins tackles that he shouldn’t, has a big engine so can press for 90 minutes and is always happy to shoot, too. The only issue is that he picks up too many yellow cards.”
