Former Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has revealed the two biggest challenges he faced with Mohamed Salah after the Egyptian was left out of Arne Slot's squad against Inter Milan.

Liverpool were without Salah on Tuesday night in the Champions League, as they defeated Inter Milan 1-0 thanks to a late penalty from Dominik Szoboszlai.

The Reds omitted the forward from the squad following his explosive interview in the mixed zone at Elland Road on Saturday night.

Salah claimed he had been "thrown under the bus" by the club and said he had no relationship with head coach Slot.

It marks a drastic turnaround just months after Salah won the Premier League Golden Boot as Liverpool cruised to the title.

Supporters will now be wondering whether the Egyptian has already played his final game for the club.

If Salah does leave Liverpool in the upcoming transfer window, he will depart as one of the greatest players in the club's history, having signed under Jurgen Klopp in 2017.

Salah enjoyed huge success during Klopp's tenure, most notably helping the club win its first Premier League title in 30 years.

Klopp explained that while the pair had a great relationship, managing a player like Salah did have its challenges.

As per the BBC, he said: "We are all massively influenced by our past, how we were raised, where we grew up.

"Mo knew early on [in his life] that he had to do more than others.

"He always developed. He never stops. That is his mindset.

"After each summer break he came back and had a new skill. It was like he had spent the whole time just practising one particular type of pass.

"We pushed each other, just to make sure that we would never stop. And we never did stop.

"That moment lifting the Premier League bonded us for life. He will be remembered as one of the greatest of all time."

However, Klopp admitted there were still difficulties in managing Salah.

"I wouldn't say he is easy to manage, but he is also not difficult to manage," he continued.

"You [only] have problems with Mo Salah if he is not playing or you take him off."

After Tuesday night's win against Inter Milan, Slot did not rule out a return for Salah, but suggested the winger would need to apologise first.

Liverpool return to action on Saturday against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League, with Salah's involvement currently unclear.

The Egyptian will then leave to represent his country at the Africa Cup of Nations, meaning he will be unavailable until at least the end of the month, but potentially until mid-January.
