Liverpool in talks to sign French wonderkid, he's the son of a legendary player

Liverpool in talks to sign French wonderkid, he's the son of a legendary player

You may recognise his name.

Liverpool are reportedly being linked with another midfielder this January, and his surname may sound familiar.

The Reds are thought to be in the market for midfield recruits following several injuries which have stretched the squad to its limits.

Plenty of fans have attributed the team's inconsistency this season to their midfield, with the likes of Fabinho struggling for form in a Liverpool shirt.

And now Jurgen Klopp has his eyes on Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram, son of legendary French defender Lilian Thuram.

The 21-year-old is also the brother of Marcus Thuram, a Borussia Monchengladbach striker who featured in the World Cup final, sparking interest from Chelsea and Newcastle.

Liverpool 'hold talks' with Khephren Thuram

Liverpool are said to be interested in signing Thuram, according to Football Transfers, who claim that the Reds have included the midfielder in their list of potential targets.

The Liverpool Echo report that Liverpool have held talks with Thuram over a potential move. However, there is little information regarding whether discussions were successful or not.

Thuram has one goal and three assists in 18 appearances this season, and his towering 6ft 4in stature could prove useful in Liverpool's midfield, having kept just four clean sheets in the Premier League all season.

Jude Bellingham is thought to remain Klopp's priority this January, with the 19-year-old's father thought to favour a move to Anfield, per GiveMeSport. However, following his stellar performance at the World Cup, most top clubs around Europe will have him on their radar.

Moises Caicedo and Teun Koopmeirs are others who Liverpool are thought to be considering, with Caicedo's price being slashed by £20million in recent days. Meanwhile, Koopmeirs appeared flattered by Liverpool's interest.

Only time will tell whether Liverpool can secure midfield additions capable of getting Liverpool back on track as they seek to close the gap on Tottenham.

They face Brighton next in the Premier League, in what promises to be a cracker, with just one point separating the two sides.
