Jurgen Klopp has picked out an underrated ex-Liverpool star who was vital to his successful reign at Anfield.
During his nine-year stay at Liverpool, Klopp won the Champions League, Premier League and the FA Cup among other trophies.
Back in January 2024, Klopp stunned the football world by announcing his decision to step down as Reds boss.
However, after Klopp's departure, Liverpool went on to win the 24/25 Premier League title under the guidance of the German's replacement, Arne Slot.

During his reign as Liverpool manager, Klopp managed some of the club's best players in the modern era, including the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
However, back in 2022, the German picked out James Milner as someone that was vital to the club's success.
As per The Guardian, Klopp said: "He’s a role model. I have told him, I can tell the whole world – nothing we have achieved in the last few years would have happened without James Milner, it’s as easy as that.
"Whether he was on the pitch or not, he’s set standards in a way not a lot of people can set standards, and it educated all of us."

In another interview, Klopp labelled Milner as a complete player.
He said to Sky Sports: "Milner? The complete football player, the perfect professional. [You think] I should teach them technical aspects? They know. We have to altogether help them show it."

After making 332 appearances for the Reds, Milner left the club at the end of the 22/23 season.

The Englishman went on to sign for Brighton and Hove Albion.
Recently, Milner extended his stay at the AMEX by penning a new deal.
Speaking about the 39-year-old, Seagulls boss Fabian Hurzeler said: "I’m really pleased we will have James with us again this season. Last season he wasn’t able to help the team on the pitch as much as he would have liked, but around the squad his experience is invaluable, especially for the younger players.
"He’s a great guy to have in our environment, who is always there for me and the team. I’m looking forward to working with him again."
