Kevin De Bruyne named a Manchester City legend as the most underrated player he has ever played alongside.

De Bruyne is set to leave Man City when his contract expires this summer.

He has enjoyed an iconic career at the Etihad, winning 16 major trophies - including six Premier League titles and the prestigious Champions League in their treble-winning campaign in 2023.

De Bruyne has played 416 times for Man City and recently inspired his side to a come-from-behind victory over Crystal Palace, showing Pep Guardiola what he will be missing next season.

He's played with some great Man City players, including Vincent Kompany, David Silva and Sergio Aguero, among many others.

Not to mention Fernandinho, who spent nine stellar seasons at Man City following his transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer of 2013.

And De Bruyne hailed Fernandinho as the most underrated player he has ever played alongside.

"The most underrated player is Fernandinho," he revealed in an interview back in 2020. "A lot of people don't know what he does unless you play with him. He's also 35 (actually 34) and you see what he does - it's crazy."

Fernandinho, who cost Man City £34 million, played 383 games for the club and won five Premier League titles during his trophy-laden spell.

De Bruyne named Fernandinho as part of his dream XI made up of his career teammates.

The aforementioned Kompany, Silva and Aguero as well as Raheem Sterling also featured in his dream XI of career teammates.

What happened to Fernandinho after he left Man City

After Fernandinho called time on his Man City career, he returned to Brazil, where he re-signed for Athletico Paranaense.

He came through the Brazilian club's youth academy then broke into the first-team before venturing to Europe.

The 39-year-old has made 117 appearances for Paranaense in his second spell.
