Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has said that Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is ‘pretty impressive’ after being asked about the toughest players he’s faced from Africa.

The Dane signed for Liverpool’s biggest rivals this summer after a successful six-month spell with Brentford, in which he created the third most chances in the league from the point of his debut.

Eriksen, when questioned about the players he’s faced in Tottenham, Brentford and United colours, said Salah was at the top of the list of toughest opponents he’s taken on.

“I would have to say Salah,” said Eriksen (via HITC). “He has been in the Premier League for a few years and also previously at Chelsea.

“But to play the level he has done, over the last few years, it has been pretty impressive.”

Salah arrived in England as a youngster at Stamford Bridge, but never hit the ground running under Jose Mourinho, and then joined Fiorentina initially before signing for Roma.

A top campaign in 2016/17 led to Liverpool signing him, and the rest is history.

He’s scored 159 goals in 262 matches in all competitions for the Reds, putting him eighth in the club’s all-time top goalscorers list. The forward is only 27 goals away from fifth place on that list, a position which is help by a certain Steven Gerrard.

It’s certainly a huge compliment for Salah, as Eriksen has played with and faced some top players in his time in the Premier League.

He featured alongside Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane at Spurs, and faced the likes of Sergio Aguero, Wayne Rooney and others in his near decade in the country.

Salah has extended his legacy in the Premier League after signing a three-year extension this summer, but only has three goals to his name so far this season - including one against Eriksen, in Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford.
