Real Madrid star Marco Asensio is prepared to lower his wage demands in order to fast track a move away from the Bernabeu.

According to an article today in Spanish newspaper ‘Sport’, the Spaniard is heavily in favour of joining Liverpool and is prepared to take matters into his own hands to meet their criteria for his signing.

The report mentions that Jurgen Klopp has requested the signing to strengthen his attack at Anfield.

This is an area of the side that has already had heavy artillery added to its armoury this transfer window, with the signings of prolific striker, Darwin Nunez, and the exciting young prospect, Fabio Carvalho.

In order to join the Merseysiders this summer, the 26-year-old playmaker is prepared to lower his wages.

The sudden change of heart from the Spaniard is surprising, as it was previously reported that he would only join a club where he was guaranteed a place in the starting XI.

This is a request that almost certainly wouldn’t be granted at Liverpool, due to the immense attacking power they already possess.

Asensio will be out of contract next summer and his current deal sees him earn around £150,000 a week.

The Catalan media outlet claim that the La Furia Roja star demanded a deal worth £100-115,000-a-week for an extension but he is even willing to lower the wage even more to move to the Reds.

This may play an important part in the likelihood of the transfer, as the Merseyside club are known for having a very strict wage structure.

It has also been reported that the La Liga champions have grown tired of Asensio’s attitude, and have lowered their asking price from £43 million down to £26 million.

Scudetto winners, AC Milan, and Premier League giants, Arsenal, are also said to be very keen on the three-time Champions League winner, but it seems as if Asensio has his heart set on Anfield.
