Marco Asensio's Old Comments On Liverpool Revealed

Marco Asensio's old comments on Liverpool and Mohamed Salah have recently resurfaced amidst rumours of a transfer to Klopp's side

Marco Asensio's old comments on Liverpool and Mohamed Salah have recently resurfaced amidst rumours linking him with a move to the Merseyside club.

Asensio is supposedly the subject of interest from Jurgen Klopp as he looks to bolster his midfield and attacking options ahead of the upcoming campaign.

The Spanish international burst onto the scene in the 2016/17 season as he became one of the most sought after talents in European football.

However, injuries and dips in form have resulted in the 26-year-old dropping down the pecking order at Real Madrid and there are now suggestions saying he is up for sale this summer.

The likes of Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked to Asensio, but the frontrunners for his signature are said to be Liverpool.

Back in April, Asensio heaped praise on the Reds and their talisman Salah, who has surged into stardom since his move from Roma to Anfield in 2017.

The Spaniard said: “Mohamed Salah is one of the best players in the world and he has been at the forefront of football for many years."

"He is in a wonderful club like Liverpool, which fought and competed in great battles to win great titles over many years.

“Mohamed Salah, in short, is a player with a special and great talent and a very good left leg that he plays with distinction, it is always a pleasure to watch any game he plays in.”

Asensio enjoyed a fruitful season in Madrid last year, scoring 12 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions for Los Blancos.

This was also the most prolific season of his career for the Spanish giants, where he has spent six seasons, culminating in 249 appearances, netting 49 times.

Klopp may look to add the attacking midfielder to his array of forward options, to compliment the likes of Salah, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Roberto Firmino and new signing Darwin Nunez.

With the likes of Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino on their way out, the North West side may require more depth in this department.

Asensio could also be deployed in midfield, where the club are also said to be looking to strengthen.
