Brazilian Ronaldo failed to mention Cristiano Ronaldo in the five players he enjoys watching.

'R9' was asked about the five players he enjoys watching the most, and he named Lionel Messi as the No.1 player while leaving out the Portuguese superstar.

"Messi, of course, he is number one, it is a talent that we will take 20 or 30 years to see something similar," he said.

The ex-Real Madrid and Barcelona striker also picked Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, Real Madrid's Eden Hazard, fellow compatriot Neymar as well as Paris Saint-Germain phenom Kylian Mbappe.

"I also like Salah, Hazard, Neymar, that I love watching him play, of course Mbappe," he added.

The French striker has often been compared to Ronaldo. But the legendary Brazilian doesn't like comparing two players from different generations.

"It says a lot of people who look like me, it has a lot of speed, it finishes well, it has great movements, it hits excellent with both legs, it has an incredible stride.

"We have similar things, but I never liked comparisons, especially between players of different generations, because the situations are different."

Gary Lineker told BBC that the comparison between Messi and Ronaldo isn't fair, because the Barcelona forward is so far ahead. "I am a huge fan of Ronaldo too, but if you're talking about the best player ever, there shouldn't even be a debate that it is Messi," the former Barcelona striker said, "That's just my opinion, but it's not even close for me.

"Some people level it against Messi that his achievements have all come with Barca while Ronaldo has won titles in different countries, but I find that suggestion a strange one.

"Messi has obviously played in some great teams during his time there but, whoever has been alongside him, his amazing numbers have carried on exactly the same.

"He has proved the doubters wrong, time and time again."
