Joe Hart gives his 'honest opinion' on Man City guilty verdict

Joe Hart says his trust in Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has left him convinced that the club will not be found guilty of breaching Premier League financial rules.

Last week, after City were reportedly found guilty of all but one count of the 115 charges brought against them by the Premier League, Al Mubarak was defiant in his response.

"The Premier League process still has a long way to run, and our confidence and intent in proving the club’s innocence is just as strong as when this began," he said in a statement.

Only a handful of City players, past and present, have given their take on the ongoing situation - including former midfielder Rodri. On Monday night, Joe Hart shared his thoughts.

Hart, who made 348 appearances for City across a 12-year spell that included lifting two Premier League titles, says he has "no reason not to trust" chairman Al Mubarak because "what he said is enough".

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, the former goalkeeper said: "I've heard everyone else go down every single rabbit hole, every single wormhole, every single discussion. My honest opinion is I've got no reason not to trust Khaldoon [Al Mubarak].

"What he said is enough for me. I loved how he spoke. I loved the letter because that was from someone who cared about the club."

Hart continued: "If Man City are found guilty, which I don't think they are because of what Khaldoon said, then there are conversations to be had, but right now I'm very confident and very, very calm.

"I'm very proud of what I've achieved and what I did with Manchester City and what we achieved as a team. And that doesn't change, that doesn't change until you tell me."

Reflecting on his time at City, the 39-year-old says he knows "how it happened" when it comes to the club's achievements.

"I did what I did," Hart said. "I lined up 11 v 11 and had it out on the pitch. I won some games, lost some games, drew some games, and I shook hands, and I walked off.

"I know what I did, I know what we did, and I know how it happened. It didn't feel like we were scheming or plotting," he added.

Khaldoon Al Mubarak sent letter to fans following guilty verdict reports

As mentioned by Hart, Al Mubarak remains confident that City will prove their innocence. In an open letter to fans, the chairman promised to “say everything” about the long- running dispute.

"I have been part of this Club for 18 years," he wrote on the club's official website.

"I have had the privilege to stand with you in the Etihad, at Wembley, and in Istanbul. This Club matters to me, and you have shown and told me – time and time again - how much Manchester City matters to you. This is why I am writing to you today.

"Following Friday’s media reporting, many of you will have spent your evening answering questions and responding to messages from friends, family and colleagues. So have I. Here’s what I said to my family: The Premier League process still has a long way to run, and our confidence and intent in proving the Club’s innocence is just as strong as when this began.

"There are so many things that I would like to be able to share with you to help you understand why we feel so confident in our position. But the strict confidentiality of the legal process and our determination to respect it means I cannot do that at the moment. Even this letter underwent several legal checks to make sure it complies.

"I ask you to please carefully read the statement below, which we gave on Friday, and the statement we issued in February 2023 (also below). Every word matters and holds true.

"While some people have been quick to reach their own conclusions, and there is so much noise swirling around us, nothing has changed. We have faced challenges together before and have prevailed. There remain many who want to undermine the momentum of our Club. We will not give them that opportunity.

"We have some exciting moments to look forward to after this international break. We travel to Anfield in a fortnight, and then host Paris St Germain in the Champions League back at Etihad Stadium - moments that give us an opportunity to celebrate the strength of the Manchester City family.

"Thank you, as always, for your constant support."
