
Real Madrid reportedly have their sights on a surprise Sunderland star who could become the first signing of Jose Mourinho's second reign.
Mourinho has reportedly agreed a two-year deal to return to Los Blancos, 13 years after he was sacked following his first spell in charge.
He will leave his post as Benfica boss to replace his former player Alvaro Arbeloa, who announced on Friday that he would be leaving his role following a trophyless campaign.
Mourinho, who has demanded. more control, is being brought into the fix the mess at Real, where the squad has been rife with bust-ups, egos and tension.

Already there's words on potential transfer targets this summer, with Defensa Central claiming that a new right-back is a priority with veteran captain Dani Carvajal moving on after 27 trophies in a 23-year association.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to stay for a second season but Real require an extra option at right-back and are looking at three Premier League players - including Sunderland's Trai Hulme.

The Northern Irishman enjoyed an impressive first season in the Premier League, playing 36 times for Sunderland - who could yet qualify for Europe next season.
The 24-year-old, who has a contract until 2030, is seen as a low-cost option by Real - with a potential fee of £19 million mentioned.
Elsewhere in the Premier League, Chelsea’s Josh Acheampong and Matt Wieffer are named as possible targets for Real - with Vanderson of Monaco and Feyenoord's Givairo Read also on the shortlist.
Federico Valverde has filled in at right-back on a number of occasions for Real, while the report notes that youngsters David Jimenez and Jesus Fortea are also options to be promoted.

Carvajal is being joined by Alaba in the exit door as both leave on a free transfer, but Portuguese outlet Record say that Mourinho is already ready to offload goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, left-backs Fran Garcia and Ferland Mendy, midfielder Dani Ceballos and striker Gonzalo Garcia.
Remarkably, it's claimed that Vinicius Jr, Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga are also available for transfer as Mourinho makes a serious of significant changes to the squad.
Vinicius has a €1 billion release clause in his contract but the lack of a progress in regards to a renewal could see him move ahead of his deal expiring in the summer of 2027.
