Real Madrid have approached Scott McTominay’s representatives over a potential move to the Bernabeu, according to reports in Italy, as uncertainty continues to surround his future at Napoli.
McTominay, who has been a revelation since joining Napoli from Manchester United in the summer of 2024, is now in the third year of his four-year contract in Naples.
It was reported in August that Napoli were preparing to offer the Scotland international a long-term contract extension until 2030 with an option for a further year, but no agreement has yet to be reached.

In fact, as talks continue to stall, Real Madrid have been in contact with McTominay's entourage, according to a report from Il Mattino, which claims they have made enquiries about his uncertain future.
The aforementioned report also claims that several Premier League clubs are also expected to express their interest in the 29-year-old midfielder, who was linked with a return to England in the summer.
'He is my boy' - Jose Mourinho is a huge fan of Scott McTominay
If a move to the Spanish giants materialised, McTominay would be reunited with former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, who gave the player his debut against Arsenal during the 2016-17 campaign.
Mourinho has publicly expressed his appreciation for the Scot on numerous occasions, calling him "my boy" after Rio Ferdinand asked him to speak about the players he enjoyed coaching most.
"When I look to Scott McTominay," he began. "Pogba was on the bench and I played him in Seville. He is my boy. When I go from club to club, I find my boys. And they will always be my boys."
Such was his admiration for McTominay that Mourinho named him his Manager's Player of the Year in the summer of 2018, having created the award specifically to recognise the midfielder's outstanding season.

Scott McTominay still keeps in touch with Jose Mourinho
McTominay, who joined United at the age of five before going on to make 255 appearances for his boyhood club, has often thanked Mourinho for giving him his break.
Speaking on the High Performance Podcast, the 29-year-old spoke about their emotional conversation on Mourinho's final day at United. He also confirmed that they still keep in touch.
"On the day he left, I saw him in the corridor and he invited me in. I didn't know what to say. I was gutted. It was hard," said McTominay.
"This guy means so much to me and has given me all the dreams I could ever wish for, and now he's gone. I didn't know what to think. I was umming and aahing. I just said 'Thank you for the opportunity, you've been a real-life legend for me, good luck for what you do next'.
"We are still in touch sometimes, if I've had a good game he lets me know. He'll text saying 'well done kid' as he always calls me. They were great times and I'm so grateful for him."
