Jose Mourinho has immediately placed six Real Madrid players on the transfer list after agreeing a return to Los Blancos.

Mourinho, who had a three-year spell at the Santiago Bernabeu between 2010 and 2013, has signed a contract until 2029 and will leave Benfica after less than a season.

The legendary Portuguese coach is set to be officially appointed following the presidential election at Real, with Florentino Perez hoping to see off the challenge of Enrique Riquelme.

But it has been widely reported that Mourinho has been selected by Perez to get Real back on track after a trophyless campaign and is poised to receive more power in the hotseat.

That includes increased in recruitment and squad planning, with Real already making moves to sign both Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries before the World Cup commences.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Mourinho approved both deals as part of his Real rebuilding.

However, it's now emerged that Mourinho has already decided who is not part of his plans for the 2026/27 campaign.

According to journalist Ramon Alvarez, Mourinho has spoken to the Real board and informed them that the likes of Eduardo Camavinga, Rodrygo Goes and Franco Mastantuono are surplus to requirements under his management.

Fran Garcia, Raul Asencio and Dani Ceballos also have no future under Mourinho and are likely to move on this summer.

Former Arsenal midfielder Ceballos appears close to the exit door, with Ajax said to be interested in the Spaniard.

Ruben Martin of AS has reported that Mourinho is in charge of Real's transfer policy and Perez has even agreed to change his rule of refusing to sign older players.

Real's recent approach has been to bring in younger talent but the addition of 30-year-old Dumfries certainly goes against the grain.

Jose Mourinho requests shock signing to add to Real Madrid spending spree

Mourinho is desperate to strengthen his squad and according to Alvarez, he has instructed Real to looking into signing Arsenal defender Ricardo Calafiori.

The Italian, a £33.6 million signing from Bologna in 2024, played 36 times as Arsenal won a first Premier League title in 22 years and reached the Champions League final.

Mourinho is an admirer of the 24-year-old, particularly liking the fact that he can play at both left-back and centre-back to a high level.

Taking to X, Alvarez wrote: "Mourinho has asked Real Madrid to explore the option of signing Calafiori. He likes the Italian's versatility."
