FPL managers have broken the game ahead of GW3 with wild exploit to create superteam

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have figured out a workaround to one of the game's strict rules ahead of Gameweek 3.

The transfer window closed on Tuesday at 11pm, with many players delaying making any changes to their team ahead of the weekend's matches in case of any unexpected moves.

There have plenty of deals struck between Premier League clubs, including Jack Grealish's loan move from Manchester City to Everton and Ben Chilwell's move from Chelsea to Crystal Palace.

The biggest transfer of deadline day, though, saw Enzo Fernandez leave Chelsea to join Manchester City in a deal worth £125 million.

That was not the only incoming at the Etihad Stadium, with City's £60 million deal to sign Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye also going through before the deadline.

Both transfers mean that an FPL quirk has emerged ahead of Gameweek 3 that allows players to effectively exploit squad limits.

As a rule, FPL users can only select three players from the same club, with the game preventing any transfers that breach that limit.

But because of the timing of both deals, Fernandez is still listed as a Chelsea player for the time being, while Ndiaye is still at Everton.

That means both players can be selected as if they were still playing for their previous clubs, and whatever points they score while playing for City will still count towards gameweek total as normal.

That means that five City players can effectively be selected in an FPL squad this weekend - though, unless you don't make another transfer all season, that will not be permanent.

FPL rules stipulate that if you have more players from a single club than the three-player limit, you must transfer out a player from that club as your next transfer.

Essentially, if you had five City players in your squad and were planning to make a transfer for the following gameweek, you would have no other choice but to transfer out a City player. The process would continue until you had three City players left in your squad.

Are Fernandez and Ndiaye good FPL choices?

Fernandez could be an ideal pick for many FPL users, as he contributed 10 goals and five assists from midfield last season.

At a price point of £6.9m, he will be more than affordable for most and will likely be fit enough to play straight away, having played a part in Chelsea's pre-season and having featured in their opening two matches of the season.

Ndiaye, meanwhile, could also be a very worthwhile option. The Senegal winger costs £6m, and scored six goals last season alongside three assists. He is classed as a midfielder, too, which means he earns more points for each goal than he would if he was listed as an attacker.

He has started all three of Everton's fixtures so far this season, including in the Carabao Cup. The Toffees have effectively replaced him with Grealish, who was a reliable source of points in FPL last term - he scored twice and provided six assists - before he suffered a serious injury in the second part of the campaign.
