Julian Alvarez’s future has been the subject of speculation all summer, with the Athletico Madrid striker attracting interest from several high-profile clubs, including La Liga rivals Barcelona.
In the last week Alvarez publicly declared his desire to leave Los Rojiblancos, with several clubs interested in bringing the Argentine to their clubs this summer, including Arsenal and Real Madrid.
However, it appears the 26-year-old only has his sights on one club, Barcelona, and now an Argentina and Atletico Madrid favourite has weighed in on the situation.
Maxi Rodriguez was speaking to Marca about the future of Alvarez, and he suggested the best thing to do is to ensure this does not become a transfer saga between Atletico and Barcelona.

The former Liverpool forward said: “I don't know the exact situation; everyone is always going to look out for their own interests. The best thing is to reach a solution.
“Fans always want what's best for their club, and Julián wants what's best for himself too. We have to take responsibility for the things we do. But... I can't talk about it because I don't know the full situation.
“I don't know exactly what the positions are. It's difficult to analyse or speak from the outside.”

Rodriguez spent five and a half seasons at Atletico Madrid after leaving the city of Barcelona, where he had been playing for Espanyol for three La Liga campaigns.
The former Argentina international would finish as the Copa del Rey top scorer in his final season with Los Rojiblancos before making the move to the Premier League to join Liverpool.
He would spend two and a half seasons at Anfield, winning the 2012 League Cup under Kenny Dalglish, before returning to his childhood club Newell's Old Boys.
At the beginning of the summer Alvarez has been linked with a move back to the Premier League, as Arsenal were exploring how they could achieve a deal with Atletico Madrid with the Gunners weighing up a trade deal for one of their stars.
The Argentine only appears to have his eyes on joining one club this summer, Barcelona; however, Rodriguez will be hopeful this will not distract him from his job at hand as he attempts to help Argentina win their fourth World Cup.
