Footage of Kylian Mbappe 'mocking' Erling Haaland has re-emerged - with supporters arguing he doesn't deserve sympathy following Emiliano Martinez's recent behaviour.

Mbappe and France lost the World Cup final to Argentina on Sunday, despite the Paris Saint-Germain superstar scoring a hat-trick. In the immediate aftermath, Argentina goalkeeper Martinez brutally mocked Mbappe.

He carried that over to Argentina's open-top bus parade earlier this week, with some claiming he's taken it too far.

A video of Mbappe following PSG's victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League in 2020 has fans arguing the 24-year-old had it coming. Check it out below.

What's going on there, then? The entire PSG squad let themselves be irked by Haaland after he scored a brace in the first leg of their round of 16 tie.

An image of the Norway international with a Paris filter emerged online, reading: "My city, not yours."

It ended up being a doctored image and debunked as fake. Nobody appeared to tell PSG players.

After winning the second leg and the tie altogether, PSG's players decided to perform Haaland's 'tranquil' celebration on the Parc des Princes pitch. Only Edinson Cavani opted to not get involved.

They then did the same in the dressing room, with the video appearing on Mbappe's Instagram page later that evening.

Neymar even posted about the fake Haaland picture. He shared an image of himself performing the celebration captioned: "Paris our city, not yours."

One person said: "France did the same to Messi in 2018 but let's just ignore that."

Another tweeted: "A taste of their own medicine."

A third put: "People forget things so quickly."

While someone else added: I love how Twitter is making Argentina and Martinez look like the bad guys. Mbappe needs to hold it. Seems like he can dish it out. The game is the game."

Haaland seems to have forgiven and forgotten. He and Mbappe are likely the next generation of the Lionel Messi versus Cristiano Ronaldo debate.

When asked if they'll hit that level in a recent interview with Viaplay, Haaland replied: "It's impossible to say. I don't like to compare myself with others.

"I think you need to be your own player when it comes to that so I don't like to compare or anything with that.

"I think the media has been doing that with Ronaldo and Messi for the last 10 years and I think they've been pushing each other as well. I think it's been a positive thing.

"Barcelona and [Real] Madrid against each other. It's been the perfect rivalry. But I don't think about this, honestly."
