New footage shows Jake Paul punched himself in the head during loss to Tommy Fury

New footage shows Jake Paul punched himself in the head during loss to Tommy Fury

Jake Paul impressed many fans with his boxing ability but he had one big gaffe in his first loss to Tommy Fury.

Jake Paul impressed many with his boxing ability despite losing to Tommy Fury, but there was one huge moment to forget in the Saudi Arabia fight.

After a slew of wins over MMA fighters, Paul fought a boxer for the first time in Fury. It was the toughest test of his fledgling career and although he gave it a good shot and had some excuses to reel off, the YouTuber-turned-boxer suffered his first defeat via split-decision and is now 6-1 professionally.

For some, Paul had already won by just getting in the ring with another boxer after transitioning into a box office star and knockout artist.

Paul, who knocked Fury down in the final round, earned the respect of his once bitter rival, who admitted he now sees him as a "boxer" after their war.

There was a lot to like about elements of Paul's technique but at the same time, he did look a little clumsy at one point when he punched himself in the head.

Paul and Fury traded some shots and ended up in a clinch, a familiar theme throughout the eight rounds and something the referee personally addressed with him in the middle of the fight.

He tried to land one on Fury with his left but ended up accidentally whacking himself on the temple in some comical scenes.

And with a lot of people desperately hoping he would finally succumb to loss inside the ring, it's fair to say plenty enjoyed it.

However, some leapt to his defence and pointed out that Tyson Fury, undefeated WBC world heavyweight champion and elder brother of Tommy, once hit himself with a beautiful uppercut in a fight back in the day.

"The hardest punch he landed," was the quip from one fan.

Another said: "All of those people haven't realised Tyson Fury nearly knocked himself out with an uppercut.

A third commented: "Tyson Fury punched himself in the face a lot harder than that."

A fourth user joked: "The one judge counted that as a shot landed."

A fifth wrote: "Probably the hardest punch he got all night".

Paul has lobbied for a rematch and in his latest statement, claims he will use the loss to "fuel" his path forward.

Taking to Twitter, 'The Problem Child' said: "The business of the event was a massive success. Doesn’t mean I’m not emotionally hurt by the loss. But I am not going to sit here and sulk. I am going to use that hurt to fuel my path forward to never feel this way again."
