Xabi Alonso has appeared to make a big decision during Trent Alexander-Arnold's first training session with Real Madrid.

This week, Alexander-Arnold was finally unveiled by Madrid after joining the La Liga side from boyhood club Liverpool.

During his speech, Alexander-Arnold made a great first impression as he spoke in fluent Spanish.

He said: "Thank you all for this opportunity. Signing for Madrid doesn't happen every day. It's a dream come true. I'm really looking forward to showing my game to the Real Madrid fans.

"I'm aware of the responsibility that comes with playing here. I'm going to give it my all to show off my game and win lots of titles. Thank you very much, and Hala Madrid!"

On Saturday, Alexander-Arnold took part in team training ahead of Madrid's matches at the FIFA Club World Cup, where they will take on the likes of Al Hilal, Pachuca and RB Salzburg in the group stage.

During the latest training session, it was spotted that Alonso has already made a decision regarding Alexander-Arnold.

On social media, Madrid Zone claimed that Alexander-Arnold was Madrid's corner taker during training, meaning he could become the side's designated corner taker in the upcoming season.

The user wrote: "Trent Alexander-Arnold is Real Madrid’s corner taker in training."

When asked why he chose Madrid as his new club, Alexander-Arnold explained: "Anyone who knows anything about football understands that Real Madrid is a team that demands success and trophies.

"My mentality as a player matches that demand. I want to win trophies, I want to play with the best in the world, I want to achieve the greatest feats. It's the perfect time to leave Liverpool and experience something different. There's no better place to do it than here."

Alexander-Arnold will wear the number 12 shirt for Madrid, which was previously worn by the likes of Eduardo Camavinga and Marcelo.
