Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel has tragically died at the age of 30 following an on-field collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono.
In the final stages of Monday's game at the Estadio Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez, De Miguel was struck in the chest by Owono, who came rushing out of his area to clear a long ball.
The 30-year-old lay motionless in the centre circle as medical staff rushed to his aid. Several players were visibly distressed, with some reduced to tears as he received treatment on the pitch.
The referee showed Owono a red card before abandoning the Spanish second-tier clash.
De Miguel, meanwhile, was rushed to a local hospital, but his condition took a worrying turn when he suffered a cardiac arrest in the ambulance, according to Marca. Paramedics successfully resuscitated him during the journey.

A statement from Tenerife on Monday afternoon said De Miguel was admitted to the University Hospital of Nuestra Senora de Candelaria and was "stable despite the severity of his condition".
However, several hours later, the club confirmed in another statement that his medical condition has "worsened neurologically", adding: "More information in the coming hours."
Tenerife and the Asociacion de Futbolistas Espanoles (AFE) announced the tragic death of De Miguel on Tuesday morning.
A statement from Tenerife read: "Racked with pain, with a lump in our throats and unable to believe that this is true, from CD Tenerife we communicate the tragic passing, this Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 8:00 a.m., of Jesús de Miguel Alameda.
"There are no words of comfort; there is absolutely nothing that can alleviate this feeling overflowing with sadness. We stand alongside his devastated family, alongside his loved ones, alongside all of tinerfeñismo that today weeps for this cruel outcome.
"The family of Jesús de Miguel thanks each and every one of the expressions of support received, and likewise requests, from the heart, the utmost respect for their privacy in these terrible moments."
