Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac verbally dismantle Alejandro Garnacho during Sky Sports appearance

Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac appeared to call out Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho while commentating live on Sky Sports during the Red Dragons’ Championship fixture against Swansea City on Friday (13 March).

Reynolds and Mac, who took ownership of Wrexham in 2021 before guiding the side to three successive promotions, were at the Racecourse Ground for Friday’s action but, rather unusually, provided commentary on the game.

Despite admitting that they had never commentated before, it’s fair to say they did a more than decent job, with fans praising their delivery online.

However, the duo are seemingly not the biggest fans of Chelsea or winger Alejandro Garnacho after the Premier League side defeated Wrexham 4–2 in last week’s FA Cup fifth round, during which George Dobson was sent off for a tackle on the Argentinian.

Garnacho scored Chelsea’s third goal of the match, which broke Wrexham’s hearts after the Championship club led twice before ultimately exiting the FA Cup.

During Friday’s clash, the pair spoke about fouls, with Reynolds saying: “I am going to host a clinic with Rob soon with the players on flopping.

"We're going to kind of show them… you've got to sell it, you really have to sell it. Real tears."

Mac then waded in with his thoughts, adding: “There were a couple of players last week that were selling it pretty well,” to which Reynolds replied: “I thought so too.

“The guy with the compound fracture sold it, yeah.”

Mac then appeared to focus on Garnacho and asked: “The frosted tips?” referring to the player’s blonde hairstyle.

Reynolds then joked: “Everything we say is actually not subjective, it’s nonsense.”

Fans were quick to react to the perceived dig on social media.

One said: “Ryan Reynolds defo just threw a dig at Garnacho on Sky.”

Another added: “Ryan and Rob giving Garnacho some grief over flopping (without naming names) and praise (he really sold it). Their code name was ‘Frosted Tips.’”

While a third complimented the duo’s commentary and claimed: “I'm watching and listening to this ‘alternative commentary’ with Rob and Ryan. I must admit I was sceptical about it, but I actually find it quite entertaining. It's like the Gogglebox of football.”

A fourth commented: “Listening to Rob & Ryan commentating during Wrexham v Swansea has been a good insight into their mentality when it comes to running Wrexham. I have really enjoyed their commentary so far.”

The home side finished 2–0 winners courtesy of Nathan Broadhead's strike and Liam Cullen's own goal, leaving them sixth in the Championship.

Wrexham return to action away against Watford on 17 March.
