Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney has vowed to look into claims that the club has issued bans to supporters for their celebrations at the Racecourse Ground following promotion.

The Welsh club sealed their place in League One next season with a 6-0 win over Forest Green Rovers on Saturday.

Phil Parkinson's squad have now achieved consecutive promotions since rejoining the English Football League in 2023.

It is a remarkable rise that looks set to continue under the ownership of Hollywood A-listers McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.

There were jubilant scenes at the end of their victory over Forest Green, with thousands of fans invading the pitch to celebrate with the players.

But it has now been claimed that the Welsh club has issued bans to some of their own supporters following the celebrations.

X user beardywxm posted on Tuesday: "Can't believe I'm hearing fans are getting banned for celebrating promotion on the pitch Saturday. We do so many things right but there’s something extremely rotten at the club and we all know what, or who it is."

They then followed that up with a second post, which read: "Charlie Day drinks alcohol in view of the pitch, which is a criminal offence, people laugh and find it charming.

"Ryan Barnett holds a flare on the pitch while being held aloft on fans shoulders, it's called iconic and he's a hero. (He is btw).

"Fan takes a photo on the pitch in celebration of promotion with his son holding a flare, two year ban. Why are fans being punished so heavily yet others seem to get away with it, are fans now second class citizens to the club?

We are looking into this. Thank you for bringing it to our attention

"Do the right thing."

McElhenney later responded on X, replying: "We are looking into this. Thank you for bringing it to our attention."

To which the Wrexham fan replied: "You're a gentleman Rob, thank you."

SPORTbible has contacted Wrexham for comment.

Wrexham are now preparing for life back in the third tier after finishing runners-up to Stockport County this season.

They will play three matches in the United States to prepare for the 2024/25 campaign including a game against Premier League side Chelsea, which was announced last month.
