Wrexham co-owner Rob Mac has admitted that he can't find the words to sum up his feelings after a star player confirmed he had left the club.

The rise of Wrexham under co-owners and Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Mac has been nothing short of spectacular.

Since their arrival in November 2020, the Welsh club has risen all the way from the National League to the Championship, where they currently sit ninth in the table.

During this time, several big players have arrived and left the club, with former Premier League stars like Ben Foster and Conor Coady recently representing the Red Dragons.

But it's clear that hasn't made saying goodbye any easier for Mac, who admitted that he didn't have the words to sum up how he felt about the latest star player who has left the club.

After helping lead Wrexham to to consecutive promotions and representing the team in more than 100 matches since his arrival in August 2023, James McClean has left to join boyhood club Derry City.

The 36-year-old has secured the move after reaching a mutual agreement with Wrexham to end his Wrexham contract early, allowing him to join Derry City as a free agent.

Although his minutes continued to reduce as Wrexham rose through the ranks of English football, it's clear that there's no animosity between McClean and the Wrexham board, as Mac released a statement to confirm just how important the defender was to him.

"Have been trying to find the words to explain what James McClean means to me," Mac wrote on his Instagram story.

"But words don't exist for this. So for now I'll just say: Thank you Jimmy. For everything."

Mac's feelings towards McClean were echoed by the Irishman, who offered special thanks to both of Wrexham's co-owners in a message following the confirmation of his departure.

He wrote: "It's genuinely been the most incredible and enjoyable couple of years I have had. A huge thank you to Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, who are two incredible people by the way, for giving me the opportunity to be part of the magic that is Wrexham – or to people outside of Wrexham, 'Disney FC'."
