Wayne Rooney was visibly emotional after his brother pulled off the biggest upset in FA Cup history.

This weekend, the FA Cup takes centre stage, with Premier League side entering the competition.

On Friday night, there was a huge shock as Championship side Wrexham beat Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest via a tense penalty shootout.

On Saturday afternoon, there was an even bigger shock as non-league club Macclesfield FC dispatched holders Crystal Palace.

After the match, former Manchester United and England star Rooney was left emotional as his brother, John, who is the manager of Macclesfield, led his team to a monumental victory.

He said on BBC One: "It's incredible to see my younger brother achieve this, he has not long been the manager. I am so proud of him."

Host Mark Chapman stated that Rooney was in tears as he celebrated his brother's historic moment.

Reflecting on the victory, John said: "I can't believe it, we never thought we would be in this position. We were incredible from the first minute. I thought we were deserved winners. I couldn't be any prouder of the lads.

"I couldn't have asked any more of them and you can see the joy in them."

Goalscorer Buckley-Ricketts added: "I'm feeling very good right now, it's not setting in yet. We won in the FA Cup, it's a surreal feeling.

"Prior to the goal we did feel solid but with them being high quality if there's a lapse in concentration they will take advantage. That goal gave us a massive boost. It's a family feeling because everyone's here together. We're going to gather round and enjoy the moment for what it is. I'm lost for words."
