Wayne Rooney tricked his former England teammate into taking a Viagra pill before a training session and the results were hilarious.

England resume their World Cup qualifying campaign on Tuesday against Latvia as they are closing in on their spot at next summer's tournament.

Thomas Tuchel's side prepared for tonight's clash with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Wales last week.

Ahead of England's game against Latvia, a video of Carlton Cole recalling how Rooney and Jermaine Defoe tricked him into taking a Viagra pill before a training session emerged online.

Cole recounted how he forget his vitamins, with Rooney and Defoe jokingly helping him out. Well, he thought they were.

The former Chelsea and West Ham United forward, who earned seven caps during his career, had unknowingly digested a Viagra pill and revealed he had an erection during the England training session.

"I think it was Wazza and Jermain Defoe at the back of the bus, I was trying to be a good boy at the front and I'm going 'I forgot my vitamins - what am I going to do here'," he recalled in an interview with Des Kelly last year.

"They go 'oh you forgot your vitamins, I've got some here for you'. They say it's multi-vitamins and it covers everything.

"I've trotted off to the back and gone 'perfect, oh it's blue' then bosh it down me.

"Na, I didn't know about Viagra these days. These days, what's Viagra? I'm a well-endowed man, it works all the time and I didn't know what a blue tablet was like back then. It was only till afterwards.

"I get to the training ground and I'm thinking 'is it me, what's going on, what's this doing?' I was having a hard-on with a bunch of lads around me and I'm thinking 'this is not great'.

"I've got my shorts on and my slips and it's perturbing out, and I'm going 'what's going on here?' - I still hadn't clocked on.

"I looked at the back of the bus and everyone's laughing at me. Mate, start training and I think 'na this doesn't feel right."

Cole added: "Everyone's cracking up in the training session and everyone can see the bulge and I really couldn't hide it. I trained with a boner.

"I was really quick though, I had the three legs, tripods, galloping."

He made seven appearances for England at senior level between 2009 and 2010, all of which came under Fabio Capello's reign as manager.

SPORTbible has reached out to Wayne Rooney's management agency for comment.
