This is huge news.

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has revealed the club have a buy-back clause to re-sign Harry Kane after he joined Bayern Munich this summer.

Kane, 30, moved to the European giants in a deal worth a reported £100million this summer, with no suggestion of any buy-back clause at the time.

The England international spent two decades at Spurs after joining the club as a boy and in a heartwarming video message to supporters, he hinted at a future reunion in north London, saying: “It’s not a goodbye, because you never know how things pan out in the future... I’ll see you soon.”

Meanwhile, Levy has since added fuel to speculation that he could return after he confirmed that he had inserted a buy-back clause into the striker's contract at Bayern.

Speaking at a fan forum on Tuesday, alongside manager Ange Postecoglou, new captain Heung-min Son, women’s head coach Robert Vilahamn and Lioness Bethany England, Levy claimed (quotes via Evening Standard): “There is a buy-back clause," refusing to elaborate on the situation further.

Kane, meanwhile, heaped praise on his old club in a recent press conference, stating: "I’ll keep an eye on Tottenham for the rest of my life.

"I’m really happy to see the team playing the way they are and to see the fans happy is a great thing. They’ve got a massive game coming up [Arsenal on Sunday] so, for sure, I’ll see how they get on over the course of the season."

In a statement confirming Kane's Tottenham departure, Levy also had some parting words for the striker.

"We sought over a long period of time to engage Harry and his representatives in several forms of contract extension, both short and long term," the chairman began. "Harry was clear, however, that he wanted a fresh challenge and would not be signing a new contract this summer.

"We have reluctantly, therefore, agreed to his transfer. Harry’s achievements and records say everything about the player, and throughout his 19 years at the club, Harry has been a model professional, on and off the pitch and an inspiration for young players who dream of following in his footsteps."

Kane is up against Manchester United in the Champions League on Wednesday, where all eyes will be on England's all-time top goalscorer as he looks to lead the Bundesliga side to European glory.
