A teenager who has yet to make his senior debut for Newcastle is now the proud owner of a Carabao Cup winners medal.

After scoring less than two minutes into his Premier League 2 debut against Leeds in November last year, Sean Neave is one of the most talked-about prospects at St James' Park.

The 17-year-old striker, who netted 13 goals across all competitions for Newcastle's under-18 side last season, has clearly impressed Eddie Howe of late.

Neave was an unused substitute in their FA Cup win over Birmingham in February, as goals from Joe Willock [2] and Callum Wilson sealed a 3-2 win over their League One opponents.

A month later, he was named on the Newcastle bench for the first time as they came up against West Ham in the Premier League.

And on Sunday, Neave was once again sat on the bench as his boyhood club ended a 70-year wait for domestic silverware with a famous Carabao Cup final win at Wembley.

It was a memorable day for everyone associated with the club, including former Thorp Academy pupil Neave, who picked up a winners medal having never played a single minute for the senior side.

That's according to Sky reporter Keith Downie, who also commented that goalkeeper Martin Dubravka has collected winners medals for two different teams [Newcastle and Manchester United] after not playing a minute of either final.

As well as Neave and Dubravka, a former Newcastle player is also in line to receive a medal.

Despite returning to Atlanta United in January after a six-year spell with Newcastle, Paraguayan midfielder Miguel Almiron is poised to be given a medal, according to ESPN's Roberto Rojas.

Almiron played 178 minutes across four games in the Carabao Cup prior to leaving, including a cameo in the semi-final first leg win over Arsenal.

Going back to Neave, the youngster Neave penned his first professional contract last summer.

"Ever since I was young, it's been my dream to play for Newcastle United so to sign a professional deal here is surreal," he told the club's website after signing on the dotted line.

"I was really pleased to make my debut for the under-21s as it means next year, I can push on and try to make a few more appearances and hopefully score a few goals. Making my international debut was a really proud moment for me and my family. Playing for your country is one of the biggest things in football and I'm hoping that, next season, I can gain more appearances for England.

"I'm more than happy about my goals this season at under-18 level and I was really pleased to be the top goalscorer at the club. I'm hoping I can push on, score a few more next season and be up there with the top goalscorers in the league."
