Former Manchester United star Lee Sharpe has named a forgotten star as the club's most talented youngster who never made it big at Old Trafford.

Sharpe made 193 league appearances for United between 1988 and 1996 where he won the Premier League three times alongside two FA Cup triumphs.

The Englishman witnessed the iconic 'Class of 92' break into the side, giving him the opportunity to see some of the best youth talents in the world on a day-to-day basis.

United have been synonymous with bringing through youth talent ever since, with Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba, and Kobbie Mainoo being the more notable graduates from recent years.

However, talent isn't always enough, and speaking exclusively to SPORTbible via Nett.casino, Sharpe revealed the most talented youngster at Old Trafford who never hit the ground running.

"There were a few. There was a Swedish centre forward who was supposed to be a wonderkid called Rudlund," He revealed.

"I’m not sure where he ended up going or if he went to France or Italy for a while, but it didn’t quite work out for him."

Rudland left United in 1989 after just one year at the club and joined IFK Norrköping where he made 107 appearances and scored 14 goals.

Despite being hailed as the future of Swedish football while at United, the striker-turned-midfielder ended his career with just 2 international caps.

Sharpe added: "There was also a guy I was in digs with called Wayne Bullimore who had the sweetest left foot that you could ever imagine and silky skills, a great passer but just lacked a yard of pace."

"He got let go, there were a few really,"

Sharpe then revealed there were multiple times during his time at United where he was baffled at some of the decisions Sir Alex Ferguson made when it came to academy products.

"There were a few where you thought ‘How can you possibly let these kids go?’ but there’s always a reason whether it’s they don’t quite work hard enough on the pitch or their touch isn’t quite up to scratch or the pace is just off it, but sometimes you wonder how they let them go," he explained.
