Manchester United made sure to include a specific clause in the sale of Scott McTominay that could massively pay off.
McTominay has enjoyed a new lease of life since leaving United to join Serie A side Napoli in a £25.7million deal last summer.
The midfielder has established himself as one of the most exciting talents in Europe this season, scoring 11 goals in 31 Serie A appearances and playing a vital role in Napoli's title battle.

And it appears that United may have anticipated the Scotsman turning his career around, as they cleverly included a special clause within the agreement to sell him that could pay off in a huge way.
Since his arrival at Napoli, McTominay has established himself as a fan-favourite player and has received huge praise from manager Antonio Conte, who recently said he believes the decision to give the midfielder a 'main role' explains his development.
McTominay's improvements in Italy has seen his market value rise significantly, with the CIES Football Observatory estimating that it is currently somewhere between €38-52million.

Although United fans would assume that the fact that McTominay's value has risen to potentially double what they sold him for less than a year ago is a bad thing, this isn't the case thanks to a clever clause included in his Napoli contract.
As part of the deal to sell the 28-year-old to Napoli, United included a 10 percent sell-on fee as part of the agreement.
This means that if Napoli were to sell McTominay in the near future for somewhere between €38-52million, United would immediately receive between €3.8-5.2million.
And with McTominay getting better and better, it's possible that his value will continue to rise even further ahead of McTominay's current contract with Napoli expiring in June 2028.

The Scotland international made 255 appearances for United across his career and made his debut against Arsenal in 201 having coming through the club academy.
In a statement release after his transfer was confirmed, United wrote: “McTominay will be missed by everyone at the club and leaves with our best wishes as he embarks on a new chapter of his career in Italy.
“Good luck, Scott, – arrivederci, and thank you for the fabulous memories.”
