A Manchester United player who publicly fell out with Ruben Amorim has spoken out after the manager was sacked.

After a lacklustre tenure leading the club for 63 games, Amorim was sacked by Manchester United in an official statement released on Monday.

The 40-year-old joined United back in November 2024, signing a contract until 2027, but was dismissed following a reportedly heated meeting with Jason Wilcox, United's director of football.

When reflecting on Amorim's time at United, many will remember the Portuguese manager falling out with several young players at the club, leading to many of them considering moving away from Old Trafford.

And now, one of the players that was publicly singled out by Amorim has finally spoken out to give his reaction to the manager's dismissal.

Back in December, Amorim suddenly called out academy players Harry Amass and Chido Obi as examples of young platers who were not at the level required for United.

Reacting to the comments on Instagram, Amass posted a picture of him with a player-of-the-month award while playing for Sheffield Wednesday, while Chido shared an image was of him celebrating scoring for the U21 side.

Shortly after, Amorim doubled down on his comments and suggested that the young players at United feel "entitled" and that the culture at the club needed to change.

Of course, Amorim's departure from United could present players like Amass and Chido with new opportunities to make their way into the first team.

But despite their public feud and the potential benefits a new manager could bring, Chido Obi had nothing but kind words to say about Amorim following his departure.

Posting on Instagram story, he wrote: "Thank you for everything gaffer, especially for allowing me to make my debut for such a big club. Wish you all the best."

Under Amorim, Obi became United’s youngest-ever player (17 years and 156 days) to start a Premier League match, against Brentford on May 4, 2025.

Three months earlier he made his debut for the club when he came off the bench against Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Obi has not yet made a single appearance for the first team this season, with the 18-year-old instead playing for the Under-21 side.

Shortly after Obi's post, Amass also took to Instagram to share a kind message to Amorim, writing: “Thank you gaffer for the opportunities and making this year very special good luck in the future.”
