Manchester United staff were reportedly left stunned by what Ruben Amorim did when he left the club's training base for the final time.
On Monday morning, United announced that Amorim had left Old Trafford after over a year in charge.
Taking to the club's official website, United said: "Ruben Amorim has departed his role as Head Coach of Manchester United. With Manchester United sitting sixth in the Premier League, the club's leadership has reluctantly made the decision that it is the right time to make a change. This will give the team the best opportunity of the highest possible Premier League finish.
"The club would like to thank Ruben for his contribution to the club and wishes him well for the future."

The report stated: "Certainly, staff at Carrington on Monday were surprised to see Amorim and his coaching staff leave the training ground laughing and joking, the scowl of recent days long gone.
"He is free now and it’s time for United to move on."
Since Amorim's departure, Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has become one of the favourites to take over, with the likes of Gareth Southgate, Xavi Hernandez, Zinedine Zidane, Enzo Maresca and Laurent Blanc also linked with a move to Old Trafford.

The highlight of his tenure will be leading the Red Devils to the UEFA Europa League final during the 24/25 season.
However, Amorim's men were beaten 1-0 by fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.
